Frosty December

It is normal for us to spend a few days at Elmrise recouperating between Christmas and the New Year; 2009 was no execption. It was a particularly cold spell as the pictures below show. It was actually in January that we had the real cold snap that did so much damage to park especially the Pavillion.

Halloween 2009

Roaring bonfire
As far as I can recall, this was the first Halloween party held in the Pavillion. The attendance was high with a good mixture of old and young; the majority of whom had dressed up in appropriately outlandish costumes. The bonfire was set alight and a steady stream of fireworks lit up the night sky. After the display we returned to the Pavillion. Julie had done an excellent job decorating the hall and preparing a good selection of food. The wine and beer flowed throughout the night and by the end of the evening the dance floor was rocking. It was a great success and a good time was had by all.

Elmrise in the Snow

This was the first time we had been down in the snow. If my memory serves me right the A40 was blocked at Crosshands on the way down and we had to take a rather long detours through the lanes. Lucky we had the 4X4
